I am a Professor in the Philosophy Department at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. I also serve as an Assistant Editor for the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly. I received my doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.

My primary area of research lies at the intersection of ethics and action theory. My most recent work has focused on Elizabeth Anscombe, just war theory, and the principle of double effect. My book, Intention and Wrongdoing, was published by Cambridge University Press. A blog post I wrote about the book can be found here.

I also work in epistemology, where I am interested in issues of skepticism, epistemic circularity, and epistemological disjunctivism.

I completed the manuscript for my book as a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Notre Dame during the 2019-2020 academic year. During the 2022-2023 academic year I was a fellow at the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership at the United States Naval Academy
